Chair's welcome
Welcome to the VTLS Users' Group (VTLSUG) web site.
There are now more than 100 members in the VTLSUG from all over the
world; our latest listing includes members from 18 countries. We
started more than 20 years ago, in 1983, when representatives from 11
VTLS libraries gathered at an American Library Association meeting in
Los Angeles and agreed to organize into a users' group. From then until
now, we have worked effectively with VTLS in many different areas.
The VTLSUG meets regularly, maintains a web site, weblog, and email discussion list, and
interacts with VTLS on both an informal and formal basis to help develop
products for many kinds of libraries.
Membership provides great opportunities to network with colleagues in
other institutions and to learn about VTLS products from the experts:
those people who developed and created them at VTLS as well as users
from member libraries.
Recent News
August 13, 2008
The VTLS Users' Group has decided to eliminate dues as a requirement for membership effective immediately. The Bylaws of the group state that the purpose of the group is "to promote the common professional interests of all users of VTLS products." The Executive Committee felt that the current dues structure has become a barrier to this core mission. We want all users of VTLS products to feel welcome to participate in our listserv, attend annual meetings and provide feedback on enhancement requests for VTLS products. We thank you for your support in the past and hope that this change will encourage more participation in the future.
